The following are just a few details to make your child’s Readiness Adventure run smoothly from the start.
2. Your child will need a backpack. Papers, books, notices, and homework will only be sent home in your child’s folder and backpack. I will provide a plastic folder for your child. This special homework folder is to be used for homework and any communication to and from school. This folder should come to and from school with your child every day.The school provides writing and art tools. It is not necessary for your child to bring these from home. However, if your child chooses to do so, please be selective and have your child bring only a few pencils and a small box of crayons, etc. Having too many choices for tools can be overwhelming and also difficult to organize, in our new found work space.
It is a good idea to create a special spot at home for your child to place his/her papers, books, notices, and homework. (Make sure it is up and away from animals and little fingers!)
Give your child the responsibility of emptying his/her backpack, and homework folder, right away every afternoon. It forms a good habit right from the beginning!
3 Money for hot lunch and milk is processed through a debit system. Parents deposit money into their child’s account here at school. Each time your child purchases a hot lunch or milk, the money for it is deducted from their account. Information on how .deposit money will come home with your child on the first day of school.
4. Snack time is very important in Readiness It’s a l-o-n-g stretch until lunch at 11:25! Please make sure that your child has a snack every day. Plan on your child eating two things at snack! The children are VERY hungry when we eat around 9:30am. A half of a sandwich and one other “treat” is a good idea. Just make sure your child knows what’s for snack and what’s for lunch! Healthy snacks are strongly encouraged.Birthdays are very special, and we have traditions to make your child’s day extraordinary by focusing on the celebration, not the treat. However, your child is also welcome to bring a treat to share with the class. I will keep you posted if we have students with allergies.
Our class will celebrate birthdays during morning snack time, unless we have multiple birthdays, then we will spread them out throughout the day.
5. On Fridays the children can buy ice cream novelties after lunch. On Wednesdays the PTA has sold bags of popcorn at snack time. I will let you know if these programs will be continuing as well as share the details when that information is solidified. You may also find this information in our weekly School News Letter.
6.The end of our day is quite hectic. Please send a note to school with your child if he/she has a different schedule that day after school. (For example: Please dismiss Katie with the walkers today. Her dad will pick her up.) If we do not have a note from you, we will dismiss your child according to the usual after school schedule.
7. Please label ALL of your child’s belongings. Lost and found fills up quickly with everything from mittens to backpacks. Labeling
EVERYTHING will save you time, money, and frustration.
- The “layered” look is definitely a smart choice for school. For example,
