I hope you have all been enjoying your summer and making some wonderful memories. I am so excited to meet you and hear some of your stories.
I wanted to give you some details about Tuesday's meet and greet at the school. I will be in our classroom and waiting for you starting at 1:30 and our room will be open until 2:30. Our classroom is the very last classroom on the back side of the school. After parking you will walk up the hill to the back side of the school and the door you enter will be the double doors across from the swings. Everyone will be masked and parents are absolutely welcome. If you have multiple students in different classrooms, we also ask you to transition outside the building and reenter at the door that is closest to the other classroom. I know you are all getting a ton of information which can be overwhelming at times. If there is anything I can help you with, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. I can't wait to see you on the 30th. Hey there my new friend!
I am SO excited to begin our year’s adventure together! I have been busy at home and school, learning new ways to make learning fun! I have also been busy with my three kids, and two dogs, playing, working, and enjoying some much needed family time. Our very favorite place in the world is special pond in the woods of Northern Maine. We head to our family spot on Shin Pond and go back to a very simple life, hiking, boating, reading, and spending lots of time with our extended family. I hope you are having some wonderful adventures as well. I can’t wait to hear all about them when we meet! Our adventures in the readiness room will be endless! We will become readers, writers, authors, mathematicians, scientists, performers, friends and most importantly a family. I am so excited to meet you I could burst! I know that the beginning of the year brings lots of unknowns for you and may seem a bit scary. Take some deep belly breaths and let me see if I can help with some of those worries. I would like to get to know you BEFORE the start of this school year. The first part of this getting to know you, starts with a task for your parent or guardian. I would like your parents or gaurdians to write a letter to me. Parents and Guardians, nobody knows your child better than you do. I would absolutely love you to write me a letter introducing your child. You can email it to me at [email protected] You might want to include a brief biography, problems, special abilities, fears, strengths, weaknesses, and past school experiences. What does your child love to do? What are your child’s feelings about school? What does your child wish to learn this year? What do you wish for your child to learn this year? I’d love to hear about your child’s favorite toys and activities, and I’d also like to know about the things that your child finds challenging. Include any information that you want me to keep in mind while I work with your child. Part two of getting to know you is a special day when you can come to school and see our classroom and spend some time with me and you parents. On Monday August 30, I would love for you to come and see our classroom and maybe even see some of your new classmates. I will be available for your visit from 1:30-2:30. You can also visit my website http://readinessrocks.weebly.com/. Explore the tabs to learn about our classroom. The nuts and Bolts and School Supplies tabs will be a great place to start. I am sure you are wondering what you can do to get yourself ready for this exciting new school year. So, I’ll tell you the secret: all you will need is a backpack big enough to carry your papers and special treasures that you will work hard for here at school. You will also need an extra set of clothes and a comfortable mask in a labelled zip lock bag, and a lunch box. I will have everything else here in our classroom for you! How cool! On our first day together I will be giving you a plastic folder which will be your very own responsibility to bring back and forth to school each day; our first step in learning responsibility. This is so exciting! I hope you are ready to soar through our year, learning, playing and making friends. Readiness is where our adventure begins. With love, Ms. Sam P.S.- I will be so excited to see you on Tuesday August 31st for our first day of school. If your parents have any questions they can reach me at [email protected] P.P.S- If you are able and willing to help with supplies for our classroom, visit our website under “Wish List” for all of the crazy supplies we will need to help us through the year! Yay! http://readinessrocks.weebly.com/ See you soon my new friend! (I can’t wait!!) PLEASE STAY TUNED! I will be posting my opening letter here as soon as I can. I am waiting for some final decision about our opening before I publish my letter. I hope you are as excited as I am about our new adventure together. Please come back a bit later for more information.
Good Morning,
We have a few things coming up. Yesterday you should have received an email from the office here at school with details in regards to pictures which will happen next week on Monday and Tuesday. I am copying the email below to make sure that you received it and have all the information you need. Picture Day will be held on Monday, October 19th and Tuesday, October 20th. Hybrid students will have their photograph taken during their regular school day. Parents of remote students should have received an email last week with a link to a signup genius to book a slot to have their child's picture taken. This year, paper packets are not going home. All ordering can be done online. Please click on this link to order your photo package. Our order code is 0033374. The library books that went home a couple of weeks ago, can come back now. The books have to quarantine for a while once they return here to school. So please send the library books back to school with your child, in the bag the library provided as well as the paper showing their choices in types of books they want for the next time. Once the kids bring back all their books, we will send home another bag of books for them to enjoy for a few weeks. This Friday our zoom session will be a bit different. We will start our zoom with sharing our High's and lows from the week. We usually do this daily so they should be familiar with the question. "What was your low (bad part) for the week and what was your high (best part)?" and yes, it is ok for them to say that their at home day was the high (😊) This question gives us a chance to talk about things that are going well and things that are not, as well as giving the kids a chance to share experiences they may be having. When we are finished, we will be doing some fruit and vegetable printing. You will need an assortment of fruits and vegetables and some paint or stamp pads. We will be talking about the differences and similarities of fruits and vegetables, shapes, and using the fruits and vegetables to create works of art. I hope you will be able to join us. See you soon, Ms. SAM What a great zoom this was today. Thank you all for your support in helping to teach the kids this new step in our zooms. This will be an expectation each time we zoom so they will get better and better at it as we practice. Thank you for taking the time to sit with us and help us learn and grow. Have a wonderful weekend. I will try and send some pictures of the butterflies. They have all hatched and are so beautiful.
Good Morning,
I am so excited to see everyone this morning! Don't forget you will need an adult this morning to help me teach the unmuting procedure for our zoom meetings. I am also sharing the recipe for the donuts that we made this week. Maybe you'd like to make more this weekend, now that you are all experts. I don't think I need to share the teeny tiny turkey taco recipe, because I just made regular ground turkey with taco seasoning and gave the kids small samples of all typical taco ingredients and then we put them on Tostito Scoops. Maybe on your next Taco Tuesday you'll want to make teeny tiny tacos too! The rest of your Friday can be spent catching up on your seesaw work, going on real time letter scavenger hunts, playing outside, and enjoy your family. Over the weekend try to make a list of the things you do this weekend to help you on Monday with your weekend news! See you soon. Good Afternoon,
This Friday our group zoom session will be to work on muting and unmuting ourselves on our computers. I would like each of you to bring 3 things that you can share with us that makes you special. The beginning of the session will be our noisy check in with everyone, after that I will mute everyone. I will need an adult member to be sitting with your child in order to assist them with learning this process. Once the kids get good at it the adult assistance will be less and less. Once I mute all the kids it will be their job to stay muted unless I have called on them. We will talk about the computer like it is a walkie talkie. When I call on each student they will press and hold the space bar, talk about their three things and then when they are done talking take their finger off the space bar. I wanted to give you a heads up so that you can plan to have someone sitting with your child during this session. It will save us all in the long run. I am also going to cut my open office ours down to Wednesday and Thursday after school. I am always available by email or phone if you have any questions at other times. Thank you for your help with this, See you Friday at 9am. DONT FORGET TO BRING YOUR SCHOLASTIC NEWS WITH YOU TO OUR ZOOM! Watch this video with Mystery Doug mysterydoug.com/mysteries/biggest-apple Have fun with these amazing activities.teachingmama.org/8-apple-activities-for-preschoolers/ This applesauce recipe can be made with a fewer number of apples as well. We spent a lot of time discussing the changes that occurred during this process.
